Schools started

Dear all readers,

I've decided to at least write some of my stories in English as we also have some German friends who would like to come along. Our discipleship training school with YWAM in Worcester, South-Africa, started oficially on Sunday with a great dinner and musical entertainment. The African drums were quite present this evening. I have a growing desire in me to learn more how to make real African rhytms out of these!

Our first days at our discipleship training school have mainly been filled with getting to know each other and a lot of information. Today though we went to see the place where we are going to serve a poor and rejected community near to our base in Wooster on weekly basis. This is a group of coloured people both rejected from the white and black people. We met with the person in charge of the community, a man in his fifties who was very eager to have us serve them. We hope to arrange some activities for the kids and the youths there, perhaps a dancing group, playing soccer and to help them out with their english home assignments. We also hope to reach them and their parents with the gospel. There are big problems among both youths and adults with alcoholism and drug abuse. Teenage pregnancies and stealing is also high in this area.

Yesterday there were two people living on our base that got robbed just outside the walls surrounding us. Later in the evening two people tried to break into a building on the base. Their were eventually taken by the police. We take all security measurements that we can and feel quite safe after all.

I and Marit thought for a while we had mouse or a rat in our room as we heard lots of suspicious sounds during some nights taking away our beauty sleep. After heavy investigation searching for holes in every corner of the room we have found out that whatever creep it is - it's scratching our floor from underneath! The basement has to be investigated next...

That's all for now!

Bjoern Tore
