Outreach, here we come!

Dear readers,

sorry for not writing for some weeks. The truth is that we have been extremely busy the last four weeks! We had a pretty extreme survival trip for three days mid November. We experienced extreme heat during a hike, a storm during the night after that blew our tents off the ground and pouring rain the next day. When the wind almost got our tents we all ran out to try to secure the tents the best we could. What a day!

These last weeks have been full of good teaching, celebrations and preparations for our forthcoming outreach. This week we had 70 children visiting us from a school in a poor area of town. A former student donated money to buy shoes and gifts to the children which we had the joy of giving to them. We had planned to have the party outside but was surprised by strong wind. Within ten minutes we brought all the stuff into our Glory hall including two jumping castles. I think I had just as much fun as the children this day!

On the 13th of December we leave to Mozambique for our outreach. We really look forward to ministry to children and widows in a small village northwest of Maputo. We will stay on the base of an organisation called Hope for Africa which for some years has done ministry towards children, widows and Bible school studies in the village with 6000 inhabitants. They also have been active in digging wells for the village giving fresh water supply. It is hot and rainy there now which means that the mosquitos are quite eager to get to know us better. We bought a mosquito net today to keep them at least an armlength away! We are prepared for a bit of a cultural schock. One thing we already know about is that ladies have to wear skirts that cover the knees. Unless they will not be respected in the community... On Christmas eve we will prepare a party for about 200 children. We have already received great financial support from family and friends in Norway which makes this party possible.

After prayer and consideration we have decided to apply for a Bible core course which starts in the beginning of April next year in Lausanne, Switzerland. If we are accepted we will read through the Bible in three months and at the same time for six of the weeks travel in the Middle East through the places where Jesus and His dispiples went. Our employers already prolonged our unpaid vacations! We will come to Norway in March to Bergen and Molde, perhaps also for a week to Tromso.

To finish this I want to share with you Mr A (Andrew) and Mr B (Bjorn) when they went for a swim in the sea! The whole thing is a reconstruction of what happened when we were at Cape Hope facing the enormous wells and the hungry sharks. Andrew and Anna are a great English couple with good sense of humour that are doing DTS with us and work as missionaries in Malawi.

Mr A and Mr B at Cape of Good Hope
We wish you all a fantastic Christmas holiday! God bless you!
